Liwan Dragon Boat Parade #5

(June 23, 2012. Guangzhou, China) Representatives from each of the Guangzhou districts paraded their dragon boat down Liwanhu canal at the east entrance to Liwanhu park Saturday morning in the Liwan district of Guangzhou while scores of spectators watched from the banks. One police officer oncrowd safety patrol speculated as many as 30,000 spectators turned out to watch the event. Spectators did not let the short lasting rain bands that went across the area during the event scare them away from the show. The dragon boat display in Liwan Saturday morning was just one of the district events that welcomed the weekend holiday activities all across Guangzhou. Photo by CS Owsley
